**Please Note – Not the second Saturday;
This
is a Members Only tour, no guests
Visit the exquisite private gardens at Oak Hill in Aldie, Virginia,
home of James Monroe (1758-1831), the fifth President of the United States. Construction
of Monroe's Loudoun County home began in the 1820s and he lived here following his
presidency until 1830. For the design of Oak Hill, Monroe sought ideas from both
Thomas Jefferson and James Hoban, architect of the White House. Board member Karen
Rexrode expertly tends this historic garden and will lead the tour.
