non-native, invasive plants especially at Long Branch Nature Center
near his home in Arlington, VA. He first began to attack invasive
plants in the park in roughly 1992. His work has been recognized --
he was a 2005 Arlington Outstanding Volunteer, and in 2009 he
received a Virginia Master Naturalists "Armed and Dangerous"

The
October 16 program will feature
Queen of Boxwood Joan Butler. Joan is a life member of the
Board of Directors of the American Boxwood Society. She had a
boxwood nursery with her husband Scot in Lovettsville for many years
and has a broad range of information on how to grow beautiful
boxwood. Since Blandy houses the world’s most extensive boxwood
collection, Joan will have live examples of best varieties to show
us. Don’t miss this very special presentation with a living legend.
